The Pocahontas area is protected by 24 firemen, 3 fire
stations, 1 Ariel ladder truck, 4 pumper trucks, 2 Tanker trucks, 2 rescue
trucks, and a Decon level Hazmat Trailer. The truck the
chief drives is also stocked with rescue tools including the jaws of life.
There are eight Full time firemen. Six full time firemen rotate 24 hour
shifts to cover station 2 and station 3, working 24 hours on
duty then 48 hours off. One full time fireman will work both stations covering
for vacation, sick leave and time off. Station one which is centrally
located at city hall is manned by the Fire Chief during the day. This is
where the Chief's office is located.
The remaining firemen are all part time /
volunteer firefighters. Several of the Retired firemen not listed are still very helpful at the fires.
