CommentsGreetings from Germany Your website is really good. The facts about tornadoes and earthquakes are frightening us in Germany. What worries us is that even in our increasingly tornadoes. I will set a link to your home page with us Have a nice day Fire brigade Wustermark www.feuerwehr-wustermark.de PS: I'm sorry but my English is not so good.

Comments~ "The Paramedics !"~ Be it after an Accident or helping a very ill patient, in times of real need, as the Truth is near, the Paramedics answer their call and race to the scene, with new anticipation every time, and without fear! With the shrill sound of Sirens they finally pull up with their ambulance, although the Fire Department or Police are often already there. Now the Paramedics do what is critically important, for the victims of an Accident or an ill persons care. They are in charge now, before all other Rescue Teams , that got there ahead of them, or some helpers on site. These men and women fight for the welfare and survival of the victims, with all of their tough training and Gods help, they try to do, what's right. Decisions are made in an instant, but with good care..., 'cause instant help needed is very crucial now and can't wait! Experience and "know how" rules, as time is running out especially since they got there in the rush hour, a bit late. How do the Paramedics really feel, before and after each call, when they do, what has to be done in an instant of a heartbeat? Or having to let go of their emotions inside, with the loss of a human being after a bad Accident, as a victim lies dead near their feet? Human emotions and feelings should not ever deter or stand in their way, when they're saving a person, who needs urgent help at that time, their inner Strength and Determination and Knowledge helps them to make the right decisions, in Hope..., that all will be fine. May God always be with all these good Samaritans, with their unselfish Spirit, while doing their very important deed. When on a "Guardian Angels call", they're sometimes awaiting a "heavenly sign", for it takes these special people, to help all others in need...! Let us hope, the Brotherhood of all Paramedics will always be protected, in this very troubled world, for now until the end of time. CommentsThank you for creating this web site. We recently moved from Colorado and now live in rural Pocahontas. Through our neighbors, we heard that we could become a member of your impressive fire department (for a small town), but was unsure how to go about it. Your web site provided us with all the information we needed in order to contact someone at the fire department. We hope we will never need you, but if we ever do, we will feel more secure knowing that the Pocahontas Rural Fire Department is a phone call away. Thank you to all the men and women that provide this wonderful service.

CommentsI am a resident of Delaware County, Ohio, and for the last two years I have raised money for the Mid-Ohio Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) through various creative ways. Last year I drove a crash up derby car (and won) with sponsorships and winnings going to JDRF. This year I am selling raffle tickets ($10.00 each) to win a vintage 1965 American LaFrance Fire Truck with 100% of the proceeds going to help find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. I understand that you and your organization may have a particular interest in this type of vehicle. If so, I hope you will be able to assist our effort to raise funds and awareness by purchasing a ticket(s) for this raffle and passing the word along to others. I have already sold tickets to individuals in 7 states, including Ohio. My goal is to obtain a sale from each and every state in the Union before the September 21st drawing. Photos and additional information about our effort is available at www.firetruckcharity.com. Also, my contact information is below, and the Mid-Ohio Chapter of JDRF can be reached at (614) 464-CURE if you have any questions. Thank you for your time and consideration with this matter. Sincerely, Todd Hanks 740/833-2906 740/833-2899 - fax 732 Northhampton Ct Delaware, OH 43015 toddhanks@columbus.rr.com www.firetruckcharity.com P.S. If you cannot purchase tickets yourself, if would you be kind enough to forward on this site, www.firetruckcharity.com, to others who you would believe might be willing to assist me in my quest to raise awareness and funds for Juvenile Diabetes, I would be very grateful.

CommentsHi, I am a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff (19 yrs) and I need some help in a very important project I am working on. It is a book called the "First Responders Handbook of Humor." It is a combination of a stress management workshop I give to first responders and humorous stories from first responders as experienced in their careers. What I need is your help to spread the word at your station about my project and website www.FirstRespondersBook.com to help me get more stories. All the details are on the website. For people that submit stories, they will receive a free copy of the book and a portion of the books proceeds will go to a first responder charity. One goal for this book is to get first responder stories from all 50 states. So far I am closing in on that goal but don't have any yet from your state. I appreciate any help you can give me in this matter.............. Thanks, Dan Jordan, Infotainer "The Affordable Orator" www.InfoMagic.Biz www.DanTheMagicMan.com www.FirstRespondersBook.com BUL-YAW! CommentsCommon Problem For Disaster Survivors-- Who cares...let them fend for themselves? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ City pressuring me to demo structure but I'm not ready The building dept. in my town is pressuring me to tear down what remains of my fire-damaged home but I don't want to yet. I'm still dealing with my insurance company. Has anyone else had a similar problem? anon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When a building is ordered demolished by a building inspector because of a fire or other insured peril, the insurance company is liable for the whole loss and cannot say part of the loss is excluded because it was caused by enforcement of a city ordinance: Metropolitan Mutual Fire v. Carmen Holding Co., 220 A 2d 778 De., 1966. However, standard fire policies provide that the loss shall be calculated "without allowance for any increased cost of repair or reconstruction by reason of any ordinance or law regulating construction or repair." At first glance this appears to be a contradiction, but the above quoted clause applies to partial losses and not total losses. If it is determined that the loss is total, the clause can never come into play: A. H. Jacobson Co. v. Commercial Union Assurance Co., D.C. Minn., 83 F. Supp. 674; Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., v. Rochester German Insurance Co., Minn., 88 NW 265; Feinbloom v. Camden Fire Insurance Ass'n., N.J., 149 A 2d 616; Netherlands Insurance Co. v. Fowler, Fla., 181 So., 2d 692; Larkin v. Glens Falls Insurance Co., Minn., 83 NW 409; Rutherford v. Royal Insurance Co., 4th Cir., 12F 2d 880; Maryland Casualty Co. v. Frank, Nev., 452 P. 2d 919; Firemen's Insurance Co. v. Houle, N.H., 69 A. 2d 696; Hamilton County Mut. Fire Insurance Co. v. Rosenbaum, Ohio, 171 NE 345; New Hampshire Fire Insurance Co. v. Murray, 7th Cir., 105 F 2d 212; Glens Falls Insurance Co. v. Peters, Texas, 379 SW 2d 946; Hamburg-Bremen Fire Insurance Co. v. Garlington, Texas, 18 SW 337; Ollie v. Security Mutual Underwriters, 4th Cir., 235 F. 2d 932; Monteleone v. Royal Insurance Co., La., 18 So. 472; Security Insurance Co. v. Rosenberg, Ky., 12 SW 2d 688. The above court cases hold that a loss becomes a constructive total loss if it becomes a total loss by virtue of applying an ordinance or building code provision. The insurance contract is meant to indemnify and if restoration of the building is forbidden, then the policyholder has suffered a total loss. The cases involve both situations where a policyholder is ordered to demolish the building or modify to meet updated building codes, and where a policyholder is simply required to demolish. You should be warned however, that although it is proper to claim total loss under these circumstances, many insurance companies resist claims of this type. Some adjusters interpret the policy literally without considering court interpretation. Armed with these actual court cases, you should be able to convince the company adjuster of your argument for Constructive Total Loss, when one exists. This is one example of a great many where it is essential for policyholders to have authority to file a "claim" for an amount of loss that does not agree with the insurance company. Although we no longer have that right: the word "claim" has been removed from many of our insurance policies... our presence can still be made known. And there is VAST hope. The power of people sharing a realization...the making of a presence known. The fact is that disaster survivors have nowhere to turn for this otherwise unavailable information, except from those who care enough to share. Who Cares? Hopefully, you do! ------------------------------------------- Rebuilding Under Replacement Coverage http://disasterprepared.net/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=6&sid=7900b5e1cd5381f9ed6bec0e4a4b8956 My insurer asked me to give a recorded statement http://disasterprepared.net/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4 Claim Adjusting http://disasterprepared.net/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7 A Post-mortem http://www.sure-net.com/board/messages/361.html

CommentsNice site, Keep up the good work, I love sites like this one...
CommentsLoved the website. My Dept. is about like yours.
CommentsI have to tell you how much the story of I wish you knew has affected me. I was in tears to start as I realized that even as a volunteer's wife I still didn't know or understand a lot of these things. My concern was more for my husband than anything else. I discovered how selfesh that was. I would listen to the scanner till I knew he was back at the firestation safe then I could relax. I was up when he was up whether it be day or night. When he got a call I was on call with him, but still not realizing some of these things. It has touched my heart. I always had great respect for the fireman, policemen, and public workers that help out others but I think I have even more now. Thank you for that and know that at least there is one more person that does appreaciate what you guys and gals do for us the public.
CommentsI PRAY FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL FIREMEN EVERYWHERE. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE WONDERFUL JOBS YOU DO. BE SAFE AND BE CAREFUL.

CommentsThe firefighter from Daytona Beach Fire/Rescue IAFF Local 1162 are raffling off a 2002 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle. It would be great if a fellow firefighter won the bike. There are only 3000 tickets @ $20/ticket. For more details visit our website @ http://dbfr.org
CommentsThis is a beautiful website and the "I Wish You Could See" prose brought tears to my eyes. I cannot even begin to imagine that anyone could or would insult even a single, brave fireman or paramedic. I am a volunteer with our local Red Cross Chapter, on the D.isaster A.ction T.eam and the Mass Care Team. I have been on many a fire and helped to relocate families who have lost all or some of their lives, providing them with temporary shelter; food and new clothing along with many of the other essentials that they must have to carry on their homeless lives. This is what ARC does on DAT calls. Mass Care calls are when we come out to the 2-alarm (and above) fires to take care of the members of the fire department themselves. We provide drinks, snacks, donuts and, even port-a-pot's upon request. Like your volunteer department for your rural areas, we get up any time day or night to assist guys just like you and the family's that you are dealing with. I am proud to be with ARC and am so very proud of all the people in turncoats (?) who are Heroes, just doing what they do. Thank you for the wonderful website. Keep up the good work, may God bless you all and, keep you safe.
Commentsnice web site "hope to be the next mayor"will be proud to work with each and everyone of you,to make your jobs better. thanks for any support you can give Rick Dollins

My great Great Grandfather And Great Grandfather were from Pocahontas before moving to Oklahoma. I thought it would be neat to have a shirt that said Pocahontas Fire Rescue. Thanks Larry. We are a small rural volunteer fire department, and are working hard (as all the fire departments are) to improve our abilities to provide our community with the best service possible.
